MacBook Air 10.1"

If you can get an apple for $1, why pay $2 for half an apple?

Same Story, no Difference…

Since Jan 28th, 2010

Finally, the mythical tablet from Apple is out; and it’s called iPad. And I’d like to say it was everything I expected, but it’s not; IT’S LESS. It’s not just some giant iPhone, it’s a giant iPod Touch, lacking several things already available to the smartphone (and some more we thought they’d realize so far). Funny that Apple thought netbooks were inferior (“only cheaper notebooks”, to quote), but that pad is not. Thing is, everywhere I see news for the iPad, i find something like this:

And that’s just one. I prefered to put only one, because the others would just be repeating themselves.

Sure that pad has it’s uses: I can already see myself reading some books on it or writing my papers on it, but there is still much lacking on it. It’ll never replace a computer for several tasks. It’ll never allow you to install all the apps you want (I see a jailbreak for it comming soon). It’ll probably not allow us to upload to it all the e-books we have already bought (see another reason for a jailbreak?). No background apps too (a jailbroken iPhone has that already, not too hard to port to the pad, hun?). But my biggest disappointment is the lack of a frontal camera (I’m disappointed with the iPhone for that too, and am more now that I know the new SDK allows VoIP calls through 3G; hope for a fix?)

The iPad has it’s uses, I won’t deny I see some of them for myself too, but it’s far from being all that useful. I already have my netbook and I know it’s going to fit any purpose I need for my degree (reason I decided not waiting for Apple); the pad, on the other side, will fail me for some others. But I won’t condemn it right away. As someone suggested me, let’s wait for the fixes on the second version (wait another year!?!?) and the new apps to pop. Then, we see again.

Think Different

Since Dec 23rd, 2009

That’s the question with MacBook Air too. When Apple launched the MacBook Air, many people wondered why someone would buy a more expensive notebook which has fewer resources than its alternatives from the same brand. The current MacBook Air has no differential that would allow it to be a reasonable choice for consumers and only an enthusiast (or a moron) would buy it.

This is where our campaign comes in. We want a different MacBook Air, one that makes sense considering for buying because it has something different, something other MacBooks don’t have.

We want Apple to produce a smaller MacBook Air, with a 10.1″ screen.

We invite you to hear about our proposal, understand why we ask for it, leave your comments about the site and this campaign and, if you’d like to, sign our petition for this better reasoned MacBook Air.
